Public Transportation
Cape Cod’s
most prominent, and just about sole form of public
transportation is The Breeze. The Breeze is public
busing that services Cape Codders year-round (although there is
an increase in the number of buses and routes during the summer
months). The Breeze travels to most major shopping centers and
beaches during the spring/summer months. It is only $1 a ride or
$3 for a whole day of unlimited rides. An unlimited monthly
pass runs around $35. The best facet of The Breeze is that all
prices are cut in half for those people over 60 years old,
people with disabilities, and anyone holding a Medicare card.
All in all, The Breeze is a useful and the most affordable
(walking is the only thing cheaper) means of travel around Cape
Cod. For more information including routes and updated fares
visit: Ferries
One can travel by ferry to Nantucket Island, Martha’s
Vineyard, or from P-town to Boston. The Steamship Authority
(SA) offers ferries at Woods Hole (Falmouth), Martha’s Vineyard,
Hyannis, and Nantucket. The SA allows you to travel with or
without your car or bike, and have easily available parking lots
to leave your vehicle should you choose not to take it along.
For more information regarding times, fares, or any other
business involving the SA, visit:
Other ferry options include Hy-Line Cruises. Hy-Line
offers high-speed ferries to both Nantucket and Martha’s
Vineyard from Hyannisport. They also offer fishing charters.
For up to date schedules and fares visit: Airlines
There is one prominent and easily available airport on Cape
Cod, located in Hyannis. At the airport you will find regular
flights on Nantucket Airlines (which as you’d expect flies back
and forth hourly, and all day between Hyannis and Nantucket).
