“Seafood Sam's in Sandwich is a cheap alternative to many swanky
seafood restaurants. While the cleanliness is sometimes
questionable, the option always exists of taking meals to go and
picnicking at the Sandwich marina, the Canal, or the beach at
Hemisphere's. The food is decent, yet not extraordinary...
expect to come across a black clam strip every once in a while.”
Although having to wipe a previous party's tarter
sauce off of your table can be a slightly sickening experience,
there is something to be said for the "come as you are"
atmosphere that is characteristic of Seafood Sam's. With its
casual counter service and cafeteria-style seating, dining at
Seafood Sam's is a rare opportunity to enjoy Cape Cod seafood
without having to change out of your beach clothes or worry
about your child's less-than-perfect table manners. Although the
Sandwich location boasts proximity to the Sandwich marina, most
of the dining room tables have modest views of the parking lot.
However, customers who choose to eat outside may take pleasure
in watching the sunset. Also, the neighboring Cape Cod Canal
makes for an excellent after-dinner walking spot.
The Seafood Sam's menu offers a typical selection of
fried and boiled seafood, and also includes a corner bar. The
fried clam strip plate, as sampled, was served with a cup of
coleslaw and french fries. I also ordered a stuffed quahog,
which arrived with warm butter and a lemon. While it may have
been an isolated incident, the soda fountain was out of whack
and spat out drinks that were either too syrupy or too
carbonated. My whole family enjoyed our meals, but it should be
noted that my weaker-stomached relatives experienced nausea the
next morning.
