One never passes Brewster Fish
House on Route 6A without seeing people gathering near the front
door waiting for a table. We had heard raves about their seafood
dishes and while visiting the Cape in September decided to give
it a try for lunch on a rainy day. We were seated right away in
the busy dining room, which is quite small and simply appointed.
The menu choices were varied with many tempting dishes to choose
from. The waitress was pleasant. First we ordered a cocktail,
and did not have to wait too long before our requested clam
chowder arrived. The cocktail was small, and the clam chowder
was good but not great. We ordered the special fish of the day,
and it was good but not as unusually presented as had been
indicated by our server. Perhaps it was the rainy day that
dampened my enthusiasm for the Brewster Fish House that day, I'm
not certain. I would try it again, maybe even at dinnertime, to
give it a fair evaluation. Those crowds outside their door must
mean something to dining patrons. Somehow I just didn't quite
grasp it that day.
