With plans to develop a hospital and marine life rehabilitation center, the National Marine Life Center now hosts a small exhibit on whales and dolphins in addition to other marine animals. There are educational programs, speeches, and opportunities for children and adults alike.

Massachusetts Maritime Academy

The Massachusetts Maritime Academy, located on the Cape Cod Canal in Buzzards Bay, provides training for Merchant Marines. The campus features a library with many nautical books and models, and tours are offered (call in advance).

Aptucxet Trading Post

The Aptucxet Trading Post was constructed by the Pilgrims as an ideal trading post in close proximity to the Manomet River. The Aptucxet Trading Post Museum is a recreating of the original trading post, and contains old arrowheads, furniture, tools and artifacts. There is also a replica salt works, a windmill, and President Grover Cleveland’s train station (he had a home in Bourne).
