Kalmus Beach

            Located at the corner of Ocean Street and Hawes Ave. in Hyannisport, Kalmus Beach is one of the Mid-Cape's most popular. It is situated on a peninsula between Lewis Bay and Nantucket Sound, inside Kalmus Beach Park. There is ample parking and a long, wide, sandy beach that wraps around the peninsula, offering spectacular views from three different vantage points. Well-maintained bathroom facilities are provided.

            This is one of the primary beaches for Hyannis beach-goers, and as such, it is usually very crowded during the summer months. On the upside, it is a short drive from downtown Hyannis and Hyannis Harbor. On the downside, that drive can often include a great deal of traffic along Ocean Street. Thus the beach is more easily accessible along Hawes Ave. from Hyannisport. Overall this is an excellent beach, but look out for traffic both at the beach and on the road.
